Running For Members-at-Large

Speech

In 2018, I was elected Member-at-Large and in 2022, I served as Second Vice-President. During these years, I’ve worked closely with our 1st Vice-President to maintain both our membership database and the Constant Contact email and event management platform and develop Local Policy and Procedures documents. I have decided to step back to Member-at-Large for personal reasons.

Safe and respectful working conditions are of the utmost importance. As a member of the Collective Bargaining Committee since 2010, I’ve helped write proposals for our Collective Agreement, tracked bargaining activity, and organized strike actions when bargaining has failed.

As Chair of an enthusiastic Social Committee, I’ve had the pleasure of organizing many important meetings, dinners, and activities to entertain, inform, and bring members together. During the Pandemic, we did our best to connect with members virtually. Since December 2022 we have returned to in-person events and are looking for ways to build involvement again.

Your Executive has worked hard to develop a positive relationship with the Board, resulting in a collaboration which provides training in subjects and skills sought after in job postings. Our Local’s Professional Learning program is the best in the province! I support a continuing emphasis on this vital service.

The DOTL is supported by your union dues. This is your Local. I urge you to participate in the workshops and activities and enjoy the support, networking, and friendship. Your Executive is here to support you.

I’m a conscientious worker on whatever job I take on. I enjoy working as a team, exchanging ideas, giving and taking inspiration and encouragement, and cooperating until the job is done.

I believe the Local is an essential support system for our membership and that we should continue making DOTL members our Priority.

Vote Ann Webb for Member-at-Large.

Bio

I joined Durham as a career OT in 2004 after 24 years in Peel. I was impressed with the support provided to members by the DOTL.

Having just finished my fourth round of contract talks, I first joined the Collective Bargaining Committee in 2010, prior to the 2012-2014 negotiations. As Committee Secretary, I analyzed surveys to rank members’ issues, and worked with our ETFO Staff Officer to formulate proposals, and track negotiation.

Since elected Member-at-Large in 2018, I’ve organized many events as Chair of the Social Committee.

I served as Second Vice President from 2022-2024, assisting the First Vice President in creating the DOTL Policies and Procedures Manual, and maintaining the Membership List.

I advocate strongly for OT interests Locally, and as a Delegate to the ETFO Provincial Annual Meeting.

As part of the Executive Team, I believe in making DOTL members our priority
